About Sandra
Sandra Santizo is currently the Director of Grants and Contracts for the PSD Local Business Center at the University of Chicago, where she has built an extensive career over nearly two decades. She began in University Research Administration as a student intern, advancing to Grants and Contracts Manager before moving into leadership roles within the PSD Local Business Center. Her tenure has included serving as Manager for the Department of Computer Science and, ultimately, stepping up as Director of Grants and Contracts. Sandra's work reflects her commitment to supporting scholars and administrators and contributing to a collaborative, impactful environment.
Sandra has a deep connection to Hyde Park, which she has called her home away from home for about 20 years. Born in rural Guatemala and raised in Chicago, her story interweaves her heritage with her professional journey, encapsulating both the warmth of her family’s coffee farms and the architectural beauty of UChicago. Sharing coffee with loved ones is a source of great joy for her, underscoring the personal and cultural values that shape her outlook and leadership style.
